Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, you come across something wonderful and sweet and clever and smart. And you think, wow, that thing is just so wonderful and sweet and clever and smart. I think I’ll blog about it.
This lady, over here, her name is Diem Chau, creates these carved crayons.
I think that set above were the first ones she did. And then at some point she was commissioned by Wieden Kennedy, a very clever international ad agency, to make all these soccer ones for the world cup:
Ooooh remember crayons? I used to love them. I’m sure I still have a box somewhere, I’m going to have to dig them out.
Impressive, hey. They remind me a little bit of these pencils that this legendary genius man makes.
Such detail. Such precision. So much outside of the lines thinking.
She also does commissions and seems to make lots of different ones, like these:
I think they’re pretty special.
very cool! i still have crayons somewhere – i’m sure!
Beautiful!
Suddenly have the urge to colour in. And yes I do have a box of crayons in my drawer *shock horror*
i pulled mine out and scribbled a bit. they have an incredibly familiar smell.
Aaaahhhh fond memories of being in Grade I with a brand new box of crayons. I literally forced the horrible ochre and brown ones on my desk mate, and the gold and silver ones were SOOOOO precious I wouldn’t even lend them to my BFF.
My therapist told me to buy some crayons and colour. I think I’ll do that tomorrow! 🙂
Wow, these are amazing. Sounds like a lot of us have a box of crayons lying forgotten about in a drawer. My box has a built-in sharpener. I was very proud of that when I was 12.
Aaaaaah the box with the sharpener was the best! i don’t have one of those anymore. covet, covet.
remember all the cool names of the colours, that was my best.
I have an obscene number of boxes of crayons at home. I think I must be obsessed with them and haven’t noticed, I buy a box (supposedly for my 3 year old) probably every other month even tho he only ever colours with the old ones already in his crayon bowl…
I also want a box with a sharpener!
aaargh “though” !!! sorry about the juvenile speak…
