Naughty Pens

Posted on 08/07/201408/07/2014

Back in my twenties, I didn’t always make the best decisions.

There was that tattoo done by a lady named Rose, in a trailer, after a Metallica concert in Fargo, North Dakota.

Those nights at upstairs Mama Africa, taking rides from strangers, and all that whisky… so much whisky.

But through the haze of good times there were also one or two good decisions.

One of them was somehow convincing my pal, Jamie B Hannah, a legend of a guy, to part with some of his art.

These days he’s a big-name sculptor and furniture designer:

The three magnificent pieces I have of his have followed me from room to flat, to storage, to home to home as I sobered up and grew up, and those pieces have just gotten cooler as the years passed.

So when I was looking for artwork for a new book of columns and letters, I thought ‘Naughty Pens’ was the only way to go. Jamie, being the seriously cool guy he’s always been, said sure, why not.
