Two books coming out at the same time, from two different authors, on oppposite sides of the world, with an almost identical plot! You couldn’t make this shit up.
Remember James Frey?
Some people spend their whole lives being dogged by controversy. They can’t help it. It just is. He is one such person.
He was the guy who brought out a book a few years ago about his life as an alcoholic, that Oprah praised to kingdom come, making it a major worldwide bestseller (over 5 million copies), before she found out that it wasn’t really as much a true-story memoir, as a big piece of liar, liar, pants on fire, fiction. Loosely (and I mean loosely) based on the sort of, kind of, not really, true story of James Frey’s life.
He looks like a convict!
How about writing 7 books for a small boy discovered to be a wizard, who wears big glasses and has a scar on his forehead? That might sale even greater?
Not another one… I read so many books about the second coming as a boy. I was fascinated back then. Now it’s just lame. I feel like maybe if one of these authors actually read the bible they would realize Jesus has been covered, find a new subject.
Maybe a trilogy on a magic ring with a couple of dwarfs and strong homoerotic subtext ?
I just finished the one by John Niven, i actually really enjoyed it. Lots of heaven and hell and jesus and G-d predictable jokes, but it’s interesting and thought-provoking and quite funny.
looking forward to checking out the other one so i can compare.
